After the event insurance
This is an insurance policy you can buy after the occurrence of the incident giving rise to your claim ie after the event.
The normal rule is that if you bring a claim in the courts and lose you have to pay the legal costs of your opponent. These could amount to many thousands of pounds.
The after the event policy will cover these costs and sometimes some of your own expenses such as medical experts fees in case you lose.
Premiums for such policies start at about £350 for a small claim but can rise to thousands of pounds for more substantial claims.
If your claim meets certain qualifying conditions we will be able to automatically insure it, on a pay if you win basis, through our special agreement with Law Assist.
